We Can Dig It!

Today was our third full day of excavation. We are all in full swing excavating our units and some of us even got to break out some heavier tools. (Not too crazy though)

We had a chance of rain today, but luckily the rain waited till the evening to roll in. Most of the day we had overcast skies which was a nice break from digging in the sun all day. It hasn’t gotten very hot yet either. Some of us are hoping the heat doesn’t spike too high in the next four weeks, but I am not so optimistic on that one.

At lunch, we had a wonderful discussion about archaeology’s role in our society. We discussed roles archaeologists/anthropologists can fill to broaden the general public’s understanding of the past and how we can apply the information gained through archaeology in order to solve problems we face in the present and the near future.

Tonight is our free night to relax and to work on our research papers. I think we are all looking forward to taking the night off and getting some of our research done.

Tomorrow the lab awaits!
